It has come to our attention that some individuals are posing as members of our District and clubs members soliciting the purchase of gift cards for gifts and incentives. We strongly condemn such actions and want to ensure that none of our members fall victim to these scams.
We want to emphasize that Toastmasters would never ask any member to purchase gift cards or provide personal financial information through email, phone calls, or any other form of communication. Please exercise caution and be vigilant when dealing with such requests.
To protect yourself and others from falling prey to these scams, remember the following:
- Verify Requests: Always confirm any unusual request for personal or financial information by reaching out directly to the purported sender using verified contact details.
- Be Skeptical of Urgency: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting quickly. Take your time to assess the situation and ensure the request is legitimate.
- Do Not Share Financial Information: Never share sensitive financial information, such as credit card numbers or PINs, via email, phone calls, or text messages.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you receive a suspicious request, promptly report it to your local authorities.
If you have any concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the District Trio.
